Minister of Environment & Forest, Government of NCT of Delhi, Mr. Imran Hussain has directed Secretary (Environment)/Chairman (DPCC) and Special Secretary (Environment)/Member Secretary, DPCC to inspect and report the functioning of Effluent Treatment Plant in Wazirpur Industrial Area.
The Minister told the officers that he has been receiving a number of complaints regarding release of untreated industrial water in sewerage system of the area. Wazirpur Industrial Area houses pickle and steel processing industries which release acid and other hazardous waste. Release of untreated waste, partly-processed & partly-treated waste poses grave risk to the human health and well-being of people residing in the nearby areas.
Mr. Hussain directed DPCC to immediately carry out inspection and take necessary corrective, remedial and punitive actions. He also sought action taken report in the matter within a week’s time.
