- DJB Chairman flags off fleet of 250 new tankers.
- New tankers to ease availability of water across Delhi.
Sri Kapil Mishra, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Art and Culture and Water, Government of NCT of Delhi and Chairperson, DJB, inaugurated the integration of 250 new Drinking Water Tankers in the already existing fleet of 795 DJB hired tankers. The 250 Water Tankers were flagged off on 13.05.2016 at the Delhi Secretariat in the presence of Keshav Chandra, CEO, DJB, Sh. R.S.Tyagi, Member (Water Supply) and other senior officials of the Board.
DJB provides water in water deficit areas through the water tankers. There are two types of water tankers GPS enabled Stainless Steel Water Tankers and Mild Steel Tankers.
Since, the Delhi Jal Board tankers purchased in 1998 have outlived their utility/ useful life after 15 years, a fleet of 250 water tankers has been purchased of which 192 are of 4kl capacity and 58 of 9kl capacity respectively. These tankers are BS-IV Vehicles as per norms prescribed by the DTC to make Delhi an environment friendly city.
The departmental tankers will be integrated with the existing Water Tanker Distribution Management System and each tanker will be fitted with GPS to track its movement on the real-time basis. This will help in reducing the possibility of water theft and will ensure that the pre-determined schedule of tanker movement is adhered to.
After adding this fleet of 250 new water tankers, total water tankers for water deficit areas will be more than thousand. In order to improve its water supply and distribution network and ensure maximum water supply to the city, DJB has increased its water production 885 MGD by the optimum utilization of existing water resources. The public monitoring of water tankers is another important step that the DJB has taken to ensure increased availability of water and improved customer satisfaction to the residents of the city.
The movement of these water tankers can be seen on the smart mobile by the users. Anybody in public domain can track the vehicles and its timings. The residents in water deficit areas shall have now more water after adding these new SS tankers.
