- Results of lucky draw of Bill Banvao, Inam Pao Scheme for the month of May declared
- 82 people to get award.
- More than 11,000 bills were uploaded by people during the month- Shri SS Yadav, Commissioner, VAT
- 330 people have received award so far- Commissioner, VAT
- Rs 20 lakh distributed as award money so far
- Bills uploaded have helped in catching more than 200 tax evaders.
The Department of Trade and Taxes, Government of NCT of Delhi has conducted draw of lots to decide the winners of its innovative and famous “Bill Banvao, Inam Pao Scheme” for the month of May 2016. Shri S.S. Yadav, Commissioner, VAT informed that this month 82 participants will get the cash award. The awards will be given away by Sh Manish Sisodia, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi later this month. Award amount under the scheme is five times the amount of bill subject to a maximum of Rs 50,000. This time, a record 9 participants have won the maximum amount of Rs 50,000 under the scheme.
Shri SS Yadav informed that Bill Banvao, Inam Pao is an innovative scheme of the government of NCT of Delhi to encourage people to get bills of their purchases and upload them through DVATBLL App of the Department. The App is available for download both at google playstore and appstore. Thousands of people have downloaded the App so far. The scheme was launched in January 2016 and since launch, the scheme has been very popular. Till May, 2016 over 55,000 bills have been received under the scheme.
Shri Yadav further informed that in the Month of May, more than 11,000 bills were uploaded out of which 8,200 bills were found to be eligible for prize as per the guidelines of the scheme. One percent of eligible entries get prize under the scheme through computerized draw of lots. Therefore 82 people have been selected for prize through draw of lots for the month. Since its launch 330 participants have got the cash prize under the scheme. An amount of Rs 20 lakh have been distributed as prize.
He said that Bill Banvao Inam Pao is a potent weapon against tax evaders. The bills uploaded by people under the scheme have helped in detecting more than 200 people doing business on cancelled TIN or evading tax. The Department has recovered more than Rs 2 crores from the tax evaders caught through the bills uploaded by people. After collecting evidence, the department is now planning to file criminal cases against these evaders in the court of law. On conviction by the court, these evaders may be sentenced to imprisonment for a period of six months.
Shri Yadav said that the Department of Trade and Taxes is thankful to all the people who have participated in the scheme so far and has helped the Department in catching tax evaders. We appeal to the people of Delhi to participate in the scheme with greater enthusiasm, download the DVATBILL app and upload every bill of purchase. By doing this, people of Delhi can not only win attractive cash prize but also contribute to the development of the city by catching tax evaders and increasing tax compliance.
