Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal today felicitated the high achievers of Trade & Taxes Department in the Annual Award function organized by the Department at Delhi Secretariat in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia. Parliamentary Secretary to Finance Minister Shri Shiv Charan Goyal, Chief Secretary, Shri K.K. Sharma & Commissioner, Trade & Taxes, Shri S.S. Yadav were also present on this occasion. Shr Kejriwal awarded the achievers, teams of Officers & officials with cash prizes & trophies for their excellent performance for the year 2015-16. These Officers were awarded for excellence for detecting tax evasion for achieving the revenue growth set for the year 2015-16 to the groups of officers of different Wards/ Zones. The list of achievers is enclosed herewith.
Felicitating the achievers & greeting them. Shri Kejriwal said that “I am proud of you all for the excellence you have shown”. He said that the revenue collected from the VAT is utilized & spent for laying the roads, construction of drains, providing basic facilities in the unauthorized colonies for the ease of the people. He said that the shortage of employees in the VAT Deptt will soon be overcome by taking the needy staff on contractual basis so that the functioning of the Deptt of Trade & Tax is not suffered.
The Chief Minister said that from the next year, the Government will increase the prize money for the achievers to motivate and encourage them towards record collection of VAT & further to increase the revenue.
Shri Kejriwal advised the officers & employees to use the technologies and use the information bases system.
Congratulating the achievers the Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia appealed the officers / officials to bring innovative ideas so that at the time of formulating the schemes and plans, those ideas can be incorporated in the policy.
Shri Sisodia said that Delhi Government is the first Government in the country which brought the scheme to felicitate the achievers further to motivate them for collection of tax and to increase the Government revenue. He hoped that the neighbouring States will also follow this scheme. He added that the schemes formulated by Delhi Government including “Bill Banvao Inaam Pao Scheme”, “Market Association Reward Scheme” & “Government Servant Reward Scheme” are being discussed in another States too and are being popularized.
Commissioner VAT, Shri S. S. Yadav while giving information about the scheme said that this is the first kind of Reward Scheme formulated to incentivize the high achievers/officers/officials of the Trade & Taxes Department in their task of realization of due tax. The Scheme include different types of rewards. All the officers/officials from the lowest to the highest rank are eligible for the reward.
He said that the reward for achieving and exceeding targets - the total amount of reward would be .025% of the target and .05% of the additional amount collected. The total reward amount for the department will be distributed amongst all the employees in proportion to his/her basic salary (basic pay + grade Pay). These awards would be both at Ward level/Zonal level.
Shri Yadav informed about the Budgetary allocation - The trade & Taxes department shall be allocated additional budgetary allocation to meet out the expenditure on this account.
