- Tenure of Home Guards extended for two years
- Home Guards can now serve for nine years

Home Minister Mr Satyendar Jain has approved the extension of tenure of Home Guard volunteers for another two years.
The decision aimed at ensuring maximum safety and security for the citizens of Delhi, particularly women, will instantly benefit more than 2200 Home Guard Volunteers who were going to complete their tenures in the months of February and March 2016.
In the long run, it will also benefit the entire force of Home Guards i.e. 10,285 volunteers. Once enrolled, a Home Guard Volunteers may now serve for a total of nine years.
The two year extension of tenure will ensure a better motivation, discipline and performance within the force, and citizen of Delhi will be benefited by their huge experience as they are going to serve for longer periods.
The government has also approved the fresh enrolment of 7239 Home Guards volunteers which was pending since more than three years. The fresh enrolment of Home Guard volunteers will provide an opportunity for youth of Delhi to serve as Home Guard volunteers, who are otherwise in search of employment opportunities.
The enrolment process has been taken up in right earnest, and the advertisement for the enrolment of Home Guard volunteers is going will be published very soon.
