Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra announces the launch of 2nd edition of Delhi Walk Festival.
- The Delhi Government, Delhi Tourism along with Delhi I Love You and State Bank of India present the second edition of the Delhi Walk Festival from November 19, 2016 to December 4, 2016.
- 2nd edition of the Delhi Walk Festival to be announced at a Press Conference on November 16th, 2016 by Shri. Kapil Mishra, Honourable Minister of Delhi for Tourism, Art & Culture, Languages.
- The Delhi Walk Festival is supported by Andaz by Hyatt, Delhi Government, Delhi Tourism and Juice up.
- Delhi Walk festival will have 200 walks led by 50 walk experts (organizations/individuals) making it the largest walk festival in the country.
- 200 walks will be held at many popular places and unexplored Delhi: Tuqlaqabad Fort, Nizamuddin, Khan Market, Connaught Place, Humayun’s Tomb, Lodhi Garden, CR Park, Paharganj, Haus Khas, Kashmiri Gate, Qutub, Sonia Vihar, Khirkee
New Delhi, November 16th, 2016: After a successful first edition of the Delhi Walk festival in February 2016, Delhi I Love You and State Bank of India bring to you the second edition from November 19 to December 4, 2016. With 200 walks spread over 3 weekends and led by 50 walk experts (organizations and individuals) they aim to promote urban exploration and present everyone an opportunity to discover the hidden Delhi.
DILY is thrilled to have partners such as INTACH, Sohail hashmi, Sadia Dehlvi, Delhi Metro Walks, Knowing Loving Delhi Better (KLODB), Delhi Walks, Delhi by Foot, Delhi Food Walks to name a few. For the second edition they have included some Special Walks, led by eminent Delhiites such as Pradip krishen (environmentalist and author), Ravish Kumar (journalist and author), Gursimran Khamba (Stand-up comedian with All India Bakchod), William Dalrymple (author), Gautam Bhan (Author and queer activist).
Tourism Minister Mr Kapil Mishra said - , “I am proud to partner with Delhi, I love You again for the second edition of the Delhi walk Festival. While the government is working hard to reduce pollution is the city, walking remains one of the healthiest options for commuting as well as exploring the city. A city rich in heritage, nature, art and culture. We aim to make this a bi-annual event and support the idea of urban exploration on foot.”

There will be 3 hubs for this festival which will have fun filled activities and have free access for festival participants.

2. Old Delhi (26-27 Nov): Chunnamal Haveli, Chadni Chowk
3. Qutab Estate (2-3 Dec): Cherie, Qutab complex

Delhi, I Love You is a 20 month cultural and social movement in Delhi started in May, 2015 with an aim to promote and connect people/organizations that bring positive energy to the city and who have not necessarily worked together before, and celebrate the city at large. About the Delhiites’ walking in:
1. Gursimran Khamba (popularly known as Khamba) is an Indian stand-up comedian and writer. He is the co-founder of a comedy group called All India Bakchod.
2. William Dalrymple is a Scottish art historian and writer, as well as a prominent broadcaster and critic. He has been living in India since 25 years and has written some
famous and highly acclaimed books on Delhi like The City of Jinns, The Last Mughal- fall of Dynasty, Delhi 1857 amongst others.
His books have won numerous awards and prizes, including the Duff Cooper Memorial Prize, the Sunday Times Young British Writer of the Year Award, the Hemingway to name a few. He is currently working on The Anarchy, a history of the Indian Subcontinent during the period 1739–1803 which saw the collapse of the Mughal imperial system and the militarisation and rise of power of the East India Company. He is also one of the co-founders and co-directors of the annual Jaipur Literature Festival.
3. PradipKrishen has been walking his dogs in Delhi's Central Ridge for close on 40 years
now and knows a fairly large swathe intimately. He started out as a filmmaker, but from about 1996 onwards, he spent time teaching himself field botany while identifying, photographing and documenting Delhi's trees and came up with a widely acclaimed field guide: 'Trees of Delhi' in 2006. Today, the book is a bible for all nature lovers and tree
spotters in the Capital. His second book 'Jungle Trees of Central India' was released last year, and has quickly become the last word and essential reference work about wild trees in an area as big as France. Pradip directs’re-wilding' operations in the Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park in Jodhpur and in the Calico Museum Gardens, Ahmedabad.
4. Ravish Kumar – He is an Indian anchor, writer and journalist who covers topics pertaining to Indian politics and society. He is the senior executive editor at NDTV India, the Hindi news channel of the NDTV news network and hosts a number of programmes including the channel's flagship weekday show Prime Time, Hum Log and Ravish Ki Report.
5. Gautam Bhan:Gautam Bhan, a well known LGBTQ rights activist is one of the petitioners in the legal battle to decriminalize homosexuality in India.
He is an urbanist and Delhi-based writer and activist. His last book is called In the Public’s Interest: Evictions, Citizenship and Inequality in Contemporary Delhi.
