District Magistrate, Central District, GNCT of Delhi organised an event for spreading the message of ‘Save The Girl Child’ under the PC & PNDT IEC initiatives of the district. Around 100 Civil defense volunteers formed a long human chain during ODI Match India vs New Zealand at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on 20th October, highlighting the cause of ‘Save the Girl Child’ and say no to female foeticide.
The human chain covered the entire stand in the stadium. Many people were seen sporting “Save the Girl Child” pink paper caps which were distributed in the stadium. The event helped reach out to maximum number of people for the cause of the girl child.
Prior to this event and to give a strong message for “Save the Girl Child”, an event was organized at Feroz Shah Kotla ground on 19th October during the practise session of the Indian Cricket Team. District Magistrate, Central District, GNCT of Delhi conducted this event to leverage the platform of cricket to reach out to maximum number of people for this cause.

30 girl students from government school Rajkiya Sarvodya Kanya Vidyalya, Jama Masjid, Delhi, participated in the event.

The Indian Cricket team players namely Captain M.S Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Jaspreet Bumra, Umesh Yadav and Coach Anil Kumble interacted with the girls and joined them in spreading the social message of “Save the Girl Child”. Mr. Virat Kohli discussed the issue of female foeticide with the girls and autographed the “Save the Girl Child” caps for the girls as souvenirs.
