- Delhi Environment Minister reviews preparation of Environment Deptt. and DPCC for Odd-Even Part-2 Drive scheduled from15th to 30th April, 2016
Mr. Imran Hussain, Minister, Environment & Forest, Govt. of NCT of Delhi on Monday reviewed the preparation of Environment Department and Delhi Pollution Control Committee for measurement of various parameters of Ambient Air Quality of Delhi during Odd-Even Part-2 scheduled from 15th April to 30th April 2016.
In view of forthcoming Odd-Even Part-2 Drive, Environment Department & Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) have planned to undertake monitoring of major parameters such as PM2.5, PM10 and NO2 during the period from 6th April 2016 to 30th April 2016 in Delhi and its surrounding areas.
Monitoring will be undertaken under 3 Tier Monitoring Systems i.e. Existing Real Time Monitoring Network, Manual Monitoring and Hand Held Light Scattering System.
Existing Real Time Monitoring Network gives the data of six locations i.e. Mandir Marg, Punjabi Bagh, R.K. Puram, Anand Vihar, IGI Air Port and Civil Lines.
Manual Monitoring stations will collect data, twice before the start of Odd Even Part-2 period as well as twice during the Odd Even Part-2 period. Such data will be collected and monitored at 10 different locations near road side, 20 different residential areas and 15 industrial areas, thus, totalling 45 locations.
Hand Held Light Scattering System will be used to collect data at 55 locations in Delhi. In addition, Hand Held Light Scattering System will also be put in place at 21 points i.e. 3 different points at each of 7 Border Areas i.e one inside Delhi Border, second on the Border and third one outside Delhi Border.
Further, Mr. Imran Hussain, Minister, Environment & Forest, Govt. of NCT of Delhi also inaugurated a Half Day Workshop organized on Industrial Air Pollution Control at Delhi Secretariat. Experts from Central Pollution Control Board/Ministry of Environment Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of India, Centre of Occupational & Environmental Health (Maulana Azad Medical College), TERI etc. gave insights on various aspects of Industrial Pollution. A Nukkad Natak (Street Play) highlighting the issue was also performed by college students.
The Minister (Environment & Forest) shared his views on control of Industrial Air Pollution and its relevance in present situation. He also reiterated commitment of Delhi Government in providing clear and green environment to citizens.
