- Press Release on National Girl Child Day
North District Administration of Delhi government celebrated National Girl Child Day today with hundreds of girl children of the district.
Today's program which was organised in the auditorium of DTU was chaired by District Magistrate North District Shri Amit Satija and Padma Bhushan Shri Satpal Singh, renowned wrestler.
Prizes, trophies and Certificates were distributed by the Chief Guest to the winners of few competitions/activities organised in the last 7 days.
Self defence training to more than 2500 girl students was also given during this period.
To promote financial security of girls more than 400 accounts including 97 Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana accounts have been opened through Department of Post.
To encourage Sportsmanship, A district level All-Girls Sports Meet was organised at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Bawana which ensured participation of more than 350 girls in various athletic events.
An intra district competition of Female Civil Defence Volunteers in Fire-fighting, Rescue operation and Mock Drill was conducted.
A special screening of the movie 'Dangal' was done for over 1000 SABLA girls between 11 and 18 years of age on 23rd and 24th January, 2017.
Further, a special kit designed by North District administration was also launched in today's function. These kits consisting of warm clothing, baby soap bars, ORS, Immunization schedule etc would be distributed to the mothers of new born girl children through Anganwadi centres of 11 ICDS projects running in District North in coming months.
Shri Satpal Singh lauded the efforts of Shri Amit Satija, DM North, Shri Sachin Rana, SDM Narela, Smt Aashika Jain, Smt Bhanu Prabha and their team for successfully organising this socially important program.
