- 67 camps organized all over Delhi today for opening bank accounts, specially for the unorganized sector
The Revenue Department, Govt. of NCT of Delhi in collaboration with the Labour Department, Govt. of NCT of Delhi and leading banks in Delhi, today organized a total of 67 camps in order to facilitate financial inclusion of workers and to ensure timely payment of their wages. The Revenue Department played a proactive role in pursuance of Government of India’s directions to launch a campaign to open bank accounts in respect of those workers of organized and unorganized sectors who do not have their own bank accounts even now.
The District Magistrates of all 11 districts of Delhi held meetings yesterday with the Lead District Managers of banks and the Labour Officers in order to workout the location of these camps and other modalities.
As a result, an overwhelming number of applications have been received today in these special camps all over Delhi for opening new bank accounts. During the camps, the people were also educated about the benefits of using RuPay Card as well as Aadhar seeding and mobile seeding of their bank accounts.
This campaign will continue for the coming few days through banks, their business correspondents and camps as required.
It is noteworthy to mention that 100% Aadhar seeding and mobile seeding in Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna accounts and operative Savings Bank accounts is envisaged by 5th December, 2016. The use of RuPay card is also being popularized by ensuring 100% delivery and activation of the same. Banks are also installing EPoS machines in order to facilitate the public.
