The second draw of lots was held today under the Bill Banvao Inam Pao Scheme. Today’s draws covered the bills received under the Scheme in the month of February, 2016. Total 54 winners were selected to receive the prizes. The computerized draw of lots was held in the headquarters of Trade & Taxes department at ITO in the presence of media.
The Scheme was launched by Shri Manish Sisodia, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister on 18th January, 2016. A mobile App has also been developed by the department both for Android and Apple phones to help the people in uploading their bills under the Scheme. The Scheme has received a very warm response from the people. Only valid bills of more than Rs.100/- issued by the registered dealers in Delhi are eligible for prize under the Scheme. The bills must be uploaded within 7 days of purchase to be eligible for award.
In the month of February, 2016, more than 8000 bills were received of which about 5400 were found to be valid as per the guidelines of the scheme. The draw of lots were conducted by a Committee under the Chairmanship of Special Commissioner, VAT and comprising of representatives of the Department of Finance, Department of Information Technology as well as Sales Tax Bar Association.
Under the Scheme, 1% of the valid entries are eligible for prize. Therefore, the Committee through lucky draw has selected 54 people for giving away the prizes for the month of February, 2016. The prize will be 5 times the bill amount excluding taxes, subject to maximum amount of Rs.50000/-. The prizes will be given away by Hon’ble Dy. Chief Minister in a function at Delhi Secretariat on 16th March, 2016.
The bill under the Scheme are continuously being received in the month of March, 2016 as well.
The lucky draw to select winners of the month of March will be held in the 1st week of April, 2016.
Bill Banvao Inaam Pao is a very important Scheme of the department. The people are now insisting on issue for their purchases and are uploading the same through the App. The scheme has helped the department in identifying the tax evaders. Many bills uploaded through the App were issued by cancelled dealers. Moreover, on verification of the bills in the shops, manipulation in the records by some dealers was also detected. The department has initiated strict action against such dealers including launch of prosecution. Thus, by participating in the scheme and uploading the bills, people of Delhi have helped in catching tax evaders and dealers indulging in manipulation of records and other malpractices. The department of Trade & Taxes is highly thankful to the people who have uploaded the bills through the DVAT Bill App.
