- Ministry of Education has conducted training sessions for Cluster and Zonal level Committee Members Constituted for Non-Planned Admissions into VI-VIII & IX Grades of Delhi government schools
Department of Education on Saturday conducted an orientation training for nominated School Management Committee (SMC) members into Zonal and Cluster Level Committees, in the Delhi Secretariat.
Sessions for cluster committee members were held between 10 AM to 12 noon and for Zonal Committee between 2 PM to 4 PM, in presence of Deputy Chief Minister Mr Manish Sisodia, advisor (education) Atishi Marlena.
The training was aimed at bringing an important shift in the way admissions are made in VI-VIII & XI Grades in the Delhi government schools. For better facilitation of admissions, the government has given due representation to SMCs in Cluster level and Zonal level Committees. These Admission committees are constituted for better allocation of seats for non-planned admissions into VI-VIII & IX Grades respectively.
Each Cluster has 4-5 schools, and VI-VIII admissions into these schools are allocated by the 3 member Cluster level committee, constituting 2 Principals, and 1 SMC member of the same cluster.
Similarly, 7 member Zonal level Committee allocates the admissions into IX grade, constituting Zonal DDE as chairperson, 3 Heads of Schools, and 3 SMC members of the Zone.
Saajha, the NGO working in partnership with the Government of Delhi, had put forth vital points about admission commencing from April 1. The orientation included a presentation on Admission procedure and Committee’s role and responsibility, followed by the rounds of Q/A discussion.
Atishi Marlena elaborated the whole process and idea of the government to make education reach the doorsteps of all children, by actively engaging the community through School Management Committees (SMC).
Mr Sisodia reinforced the need for active community engagement and involvement of the School Management Committees, for the development of govt schools, aiding the Parents in Admissions and active enrolment of the Students.
He also stated that the government is open to suggestions and even modify the policies, based on the consistent feedback being provided by the School Management Committees from the schools.
