Latest data from 17 locations of Delhi shows continuing declining trend in vehicular pollution Please find attached the ambient air data collected by mobile teams of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee on 17 locations across Delhi through mobile dust samplers on Tuesday (5th January. The data was collected using Light Scattering Technique. The mobile teams collected data of PM 2.5 & PM 10 in microgram per meter cube (ug/m3). Air pollution is being currently monitored in Delhi through PM2.5 & PM10 data parameters.
So far, since 1st January, mobile teams of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee have collected data from 72 locations.
IMPORTANT FINDINGS :
· In the latest 17 locations, PM2.5 was measured to be less than 300 in nine locations.
· The latest data proves the continuing trend of reduction in air pollution caused by vehicular traffic.
· The major cause of PM2.5 around this time of the year is vehicular pollution.
· The latest set of 17 locations are areas on the outer limits of Delhi and implementation of odd/even plan for four wheeled vehicles is showing positive results.
· This data shows average measurement of 353 (ug/m3) PM2.5 from 17 locations, which is less than 130 as compared to same days in previous years.
· Declining trend of PM 2.5 air pollution is a healthy sign for Delhi.
· Major cause of PM10 at this time of the year is construction dust and wind blown dust.
· In outer areas of Delhi, reflected in the latest 17 locations, PM10 air pollution is being caused by NCR towns.
· Weather conditions are also contributing to the lack of reduction in PM10 measurement in outer areas of Delhi.
