- Delhi CM sets-up high level committee to look into matters related to water bodies
Chief Minister Mr Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday (9th June) constituted a high level committee under the chairmanship of PWD minister Mr Satyendar Jain to look into the matters related to water bodies in the national capital.
Water Minister Mr Kapil Mishra and Environment & Forests Minister Mr Imran Hussain will be the members of this committee. The CEO, Delhi Jal Board, Mr Keshav Chandra will be the Member Secretary of this committee.
The Committee will look into the matters of water bodies in NCT of Delhi with issues related to taking necessary steps like site inspections (if required), proper identification/confirmation of water bodies for updated inventory, suggesting suitable recommendations to restore them, rain water harvesting for the benefit of water bodies alongwith their development and beautification plan on targeted basis for all the Water Bodies owning Agencies.
The Committee will review the progress from time to time. This is in reference to the Hon’ble NGT judgment order dated 3.6.2016 in OA No. 307 of 2016 in the matter “Society for Protection of Culture Heritage, Environment, Traditions & Promotions of National Awareness (CHETNA) Vs. Union of India & Ors”.
