  • Dy. Chief Minister, Shri Manish Sisodia releases the report on 'Social Consumption on Health in Delhi'

The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Manish Sisodia today released the report on 'Social Consumption on Health in Delhi' brought out by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics Govt. of NCT of Delhi based on the result of National Sample Survey 71st Round on Health and Morbidity, carried out during January-June, 2014.

Shri Sisodia pointed out that the number of per thousand ailing persons was estimated at 48 in Rural and 50 in Urban areas of Delhi as compared to 89 in Rural and 118 in Urban at national level. The comparative figures of per thousand ailing persons in urban areas of Punjab was 170, Haryana 75, Himachal Pradesh 51, J&K 41, Rajasthan 83, Uttar Pradesh 91 and Gujarat 103.

Shri Sisodia also stated that the rate of hospitalization (including child birth) per thousand population was 41 in Urban Delhi. The rate of hospitalization in urban Delhi is lower than the national average of 49, thereby indicating relatively better health profile in urban Delhi. The comparative figures of per thousand hospitalized cases in urban areas of Punjab was 40, Haryana 50, Himachal Pradesh 33, J&K 37, Rajasthan 43 and Uttar Pradesh 40.

He said that the average expenditure incurred for treatment per hospitalized case (excluding child birth) has been estimated at Rs.24,952/- in urban areas of Delhi as against Rs.26,455/- at national level. The average expenditure incurred for treatment per hospitalized case for the urban areas of other states like Punjab Rs.31,978/-, Haryana Rs.35,217/-, Himachal Pradesh Rs.31,160 and Uttar Pradesh Rs.33,402/-.

The share of total hospitalization cases (excluding Child Birth) in urban Delhi reported in Public hospitals accounted for 51.4% as against 32% at the national level. The percentage share for public hospitals in treatment of hospitalization cases in urban areas of other states namely, Haryana 18.3%, Himachal Pradesh 71.8%, J&K 85.4%, Punjab 30.2%, Rajasthan 54.4% and Uttar Pradesh 28.3%.

Shri Sisodia further informed that the Old Age Dependency ratio in Delhi is 6.97 which indicates that every 100 persons in the age group of 15 to 59 years were supporting physically or otherwise to around Seven aged persons in the year 2014.
