- Dy. Chief Minister launches GST enrolment for Delhi VAT dealers
- The enrolment for GST will commence from 16th (today) to 31st December 2016.
- The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act is likely to be implemented in India from 1st April 2017

The Deputy Chief Minister, Govt. of Delhi, Sh. Manish Sisodia today launched the programme for enrolment of Delhi VAT dealers on GST portal in a function organized by Department of Trade & Taxes at Delhi Secretariat. Around 30 dealers from different wards have been invited to participate in the online live enrolment on GST portal.
Addressing the dealers, Shri Sisodia expressed his desire that GST should be seen as partnership between the Government and business fraternity as it is expected to benefit consumer’s, Government and the business community.
He said that during the period w.e.f. 16th December to 31st December 2016, the officers/officials of VAT Department shall organise meetings with the representatives of the dealers’ associations in Delhi to spread the message and awareness amongst all the traders so that they can enrol themselves with GST within the prescribed time slot to avoid any inconvenience in future.
Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act is likely to be implemented in India from 1st April 2017. As a first step towards the migration to GST, all VAT dealers of Delhi are required to enrol themselves on the GST portal so that they can be migrated to GST once it is implemented. The enrolment of dealers in Delhi is scheduled from 16th December to 31st December 2016. Delhi Government is committed to make the process of transition to GST smooth and convenient for the dealers of Delhi for which a series of workshops and training programmes are being organised for officers/ officials of the department of Trade & Taxes, Delhi, Central Excise & Service Tax Department as well as VAT dealers of Delhi.
