Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) is managing 194 shelters scattered all over Delhi. Out of these 77 Shelters are in permanent buildings and 117 are in Porta Cabins.
In a decision which will relieve many of those who need these shelters, DUSIB has waived off the user charges of Rs. 10/- for 24 hours in general Porta Cabin Shelters during the summer season.
Out of the 77-permanent shelters, several are for women, children, differently abled persons, senior citizens which are already free for the respective categories. Recovery shelters (2) and de-addiction shelters (4) are also free of cost for everyone.
The decision was taken after a meeting between the Chief Minister and the officials of DUSIB in which the Chief Minister was of the view that the user charges be waived off from these shelters.
