The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Mr. Manish Sisodia, on Monday conducted the draw of lots for Haj 2016. The function was also attended by Minister Mr. Imran Hussain, MLA Mr. Haji Ishraque, Officers of Union Ministry for Minorities, Delhi State Haj Committee and other senior officials of Delhi Government.
The draw of lots was done electronically. Delhi has got a quota of 1224-seats for Haj 2016. The total number of application received was 8987.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sisodia said, “It is a great honour & a matter of pride to be part of this pious process.”
Pointing towards the huge backlog of applications for Haj, Mr. Sisodia said, “We request the concerned Central Ministry to increase the quota for Haj for Delhi. It’s the national capital of the country, the number of applications is very huge; the quota must be increased. “
