- Delhi Jal Board (DJB) teams have succeeded in starting the Wazirabad water treatment plants on Monday evening.
- DJB chairman and Water Minister Mr Kapil Mishra was present at the plant when the engineers succeeded in running the plant at 25 % capacity. (It will be functioning at 50% capacity by night).
- DJB will start operating the Chandrawal and Okhla plants soon in the evening itself.
- Bawana, Dwarka, Haiderpur and Nangloi water plants will start functioning the moment water supply is restored from Munak Canal in Haryana.
- As per existing agreements, Haryana supplies 580 MGD (11oo cusecs) of water to Delhi from Munak Canal/other sources.
- Water supply is yet to start from Haryana.
- In total, above mentioned seven water treatment plants of Delhi are dependant on Haryana for operations.
- Other two water treatment plants – Sonia Vihar and Bhagirathi – have remained unaffected since their source is not Munak Canal.
