Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra visited Ghumanhera Village in Matiala along with local MLA Gulab Singh Yadav following reports from certain news channels and newspapers which had reported stories of mass migration from the village on account of water scarcity.
After the site visit in Ghumanhera, it was found that the report of migration due to water crisis was fake. The locals briefed the minister and MLA that not even one villager had migrated from Ghumanhera, and that the local BJP Mandal In-Charge was involved in this news-story driven conspiracy. The only houses that were locked were of residents who had constructed new houses 15 years ago and moved to new homes in and around the area, images of which were used to show “migration” in the village. This clearly showed that there was no migration and the propaganda spread by the BJP was malicious and false.
The news reports were proven to be completely fake and without any basis in reality. The Minister further directed Delhi Jal Board officials to expedite any pending works in Matiala.
Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra said, “It is unfortunate that the Bharatiya Janata Party indulges in such acts of misinformation and negative politics. The Delhi Jal Board has done stellar work in the field of water production, management and distribution across the city covering 217 unauthorised colonies in the last year, and will cover 300 new colonies in the city this year. We are going to cover all of Delhi with piped water supply by December 2017. We hope that these news outlets retract such malicious news stories and stop being maliciously misinformed by the BJP, and more importantly cover the amazing work being done by the Delhi Government.”
