- Fines worth Rs 63.70 lakh imposed in four days
ELEVEN teams of the Delhi government have so far conducted 310 inspections during last four days to check the implementation of the ban on construction/demolition activities and burning of leaves and garbage in the open. They have found 171 violations and imposed fines worth Rs 63.70 lakh.
The details were provided in the meeting to review the progress of the ongoing drive to check all construction related activities (private and government buildings and to stop all construction and demolition activities as well as to check burning of dry leaves/garbage). The meeting was chaired by the Environment Minister Mr Imran Hussain and was attended by senior officials of the Environment Department and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee.
The officers informed the Minster that 11 joint teams comprising officers of the DPCC and concerned area SDMs, was constituted vide office order dated 7th November 2016 (Monday), following directions from the Delhi Cabinet on Sunday.
The Environment Minister directed the officials to continue the drive and intensify it since the fight against air pollution must be taken to the higher level and no lapse should be allowed to gon unpunished.
