- Delhi Govt signs MoU with German Federal Free State of Thuringia on higher education
Delhi Government and the German Federal Free State of Thuringia on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for increasing cooperation in higher education.
On behalf of the Delhi Government, Deputy Chief Minister Mr Manish Sisodia and on behalf of the Federal Free State of Thuringia, Mr Georg Maier, State Secretary, Federal Free State of Thuringia signed the MoU at the Delhi Secretariat.
The MoU has been signed recognising the need for and benefits of increased co-operation and communication within the international community of universities, Centres of Higher Education and Research Institutions and desiring to establish mutually beneficial relationship which will encourage such co-operation and communication.
With the aforesaid MoU, both the sides shall encourage the following activities to expand and promote their mutual interests, to promote and encourage amongst the Universities, Centres of Higher Education, and Research Institutions in their respective states;
a) Exchange of faculty members
b) Exchange of academic publications and information
c) Development of collaborative research
During the signing of MoU ceremony, Mr Georg Maier, State Secretary, Federal Free State of Thuringia observed that India is the fastest growing economy and needs skilled man power, therefore, they are happy to co-operate Govt of Delhi in Education Sector.
The deputy Chief Minister also observed that co-operation will help in introduction of dual system of Education in Delhi. Delhi Govt plans to setup an institution on the lines of the University of Applied Sciences as in Finland and Germany.
