  • Delhi govt orders probe into alleged irregularities in ration cards changes in 2013

Delhi government on Friday ordered an inquiry into the complaints of alleged irregularities during the transfer of old ration cards to new cards under the National Food Security system in 2013.

Food and Supplies Minister Shri Imran Hussain ordered the inquiry following instructions from the Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia after basic information which emerged from the verification exercise showed a mismatch in the details mentioned in some cards.

Following the verification exercise conducted by the Food and Supplies Department, Shri Hussain has directed a thorough inquiry to be conducted within 10 days and responsibility of concerned officials be fixed. Vigilance cases will be initiated against those who have committed gross irregularities and FIRs will be filed, if required.

Food and Supplies Department will conduct a door-to-door survey for cross checking of cards by establishing personal contact with card holders.

The Minister has directed that the exercise, however, should not result in any harassment of card holders.

It has also been directed that during the door-to-door survey wherever card holders are not found to be genuine, lists must be prepared containing the following information :

i) Not found residing (ii) House locked (iii) Address not traceable (iv) Mismatch in names etc.

Following this a thorough verification of the negative list will also be carried out and proper opportunity will be given to NFS card holders for rectification.
