- Delhi govt loan to North & East MCDs
- The loan of Rs 551 crore to the two corporations has been arranged by diverting capital funds earmarked for education department of the Delhi government.
- The government appeals to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor to direct DDA to clear the Rs 1575 crore property tax it owes to the three Municipal Corporations
Delhi government on Wednesday decided to release a total amount of Rs 693 crore to the North and East Municipal Corporations of Delhi, which are facing financial problems in payment of salaries of their employees.
The break-up of this amount is as follows :
Delhi government loan to North MCD : Rs 314 crore
Delhi government loan to East MCD : Rs 237 crore
Stamp duty payment to North MCD : Rs 142 crore

The commissioners of these two corporations, in their meeting with the Chief Secretary of Delhi and the Principal Secretary Finance, on Tuesday night had informed that a total of Rs 693 crore will be required to clear the salary dues of all employees till 31st January.
The loan of Rs 551 crore to the two corporations has been arranged by diverting capital funds earmarked for education department of the Delhi government.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr Manish Sisodia had directed the Chief Secretary and Finance Secretary to meet the MCD commissioners, and work out the modalities to settle the salary issue.
Delhi government has already made it clear that all funds – both – planned and non planned meant for the three Municipal Corporations for the current financial year, have already been disbursed.
Further, for the first time since 2012, the Delhi government during this financial year did not deduct any amount from the Rs 6,000 crore outstanding loan that the corporations owe to it.
Delhi government also did not deduct any amount which it can recover on account of interest to be paid to it for the loan.
The government has again appealed to the hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, who is also the chairman of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to direct it to clear the Rs 1575 crore property tax it owes to the three Municipal Corporations.
Delhi government has also decided to consider the demand of the doctors working in the hospitals run by the three corporations, that these hospitals should be taken over by the government.
