  • Delhi govt holds talks with drivers union & App based cab companies

Delhi government on Tuesday convened a meeting between the representatives of Rajdhani Tourist Driver Union and managements of Ola/Uber, looking after their operations in the region.

Transport Minister Mr Satyendar Jain had deputed State Transport Authority (STA) member, MLA Mr Kailash Gahlot to hold talks with both sides and look for solutions, if any.

It emerged in the discussions that issues between the drivers union and App based company operators need detailed deliberations to arrive at common agreements.

Following directions from the Transport Minister, it was firmly conveyed to the companies to look into the problems faced by drivers, including the demand for a reasonable compensation with regard to the incurred cost of operation and other welfare measures for the drivers.

It has been informed that majority of the drivers are not in favour of any strike but some external anti-social elements are illegally preventing the App-based drivers from plying their vehicles.

It has been noticed that some miscreants are vandalizing vehicles and harassing the public, including women and elderly passengers.

Transport Minister has directed the department officials to inform the Delhi Police about the exact locations where miscreants are indulging in vandalism and complaints should be lodged in concerned police stations for registration of criminal cases against such miscreants.
