• Delhi Government felicitates children with Gallantry Awards in recognition of their bravery

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia on Thursday lauded children for their bravery and courage in the face of danger. He said that they had set up an example for their adults to emulate.

Shri Sisodia was felicitating the young ‘unsung heroes’ at a Gallantry Awards ceremony held at the Delhi Secretariat on Thursday.

Those present on the occasion also included Delhi Health Minister Shri Satyendar Jain and officials from the Delhi Government. “We are proud of the courage shown by the children. Our heartfelt condolences for the parents of those children who have laid down their lives, to save others. They have made their parents proud by their selfless act,” Mr Jain said.

Shri Sisodia appreciated the parents for encouraging their children to be courageous. “These children saved lives without any expectations, which makes their bravery selfless. What these children have done, sometimes even adults fail to do. I salute the way parents have brought these children up by making them fearless and courageous,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.

Citing stories of courage and bravery, the Shri Sisodia expressed hope that this courage and bravery is instilled in children across the country.  “Take the story of 8.5 year old Neelam, who rescued a friend from an 8 feet deep pit. I want to tell her that even when you grow up you won’t fit into that pit. But the courage you have shown by this act is even taller than that pit,” he added.

Shri Sisodia had a special message for the young heroes towards the conclusion of the event. “I want to tell you that some days later when you are walking on Rajpath in the Republic Day Parade, the while nation will laud your bravery. You will be flanked by army contingents and tanks and they are brave too. But remember you don’t need to be a soldier or have a weapon to have the kind of bravery that you have shown,” he said.
