- Delhi Cabinet approves a historic 36 % increase in minimum wages for all categories of workers
The Delhi Cabinet, in its meeting on Saturday, chaired by the Chief Minister Mr Arvind Kejriwal approved the proposal of the tripartite committee which recommended atleast 36 % hike in the minimum wages of all categories of workers.
The Chief Minister, along with the Deputy Chief Minister Mr Manish Sisodia and Labour Minister Mr Gopal Rai announced the new proposed minimum wages in different categories as given below :
1) Current minimum wages for unskilled category : Rs 9724 per month. Proposed NEW minimum wages approved by the cabinet : Rs 13,350 per month
2) Current minimum wages in semi skilled category : Rs 10,764 per month. Proposed NEW minimum wages : Rs 14,698 per month
3) Current minimum wages in Skilled category : Rs 11,830 per month. Proposed NEW minimum wages : Rs 16,182 per month
Following the Cabinet approval, the decision will now be sent to the hon'ble Lieutenant Governor for ratification at the earliest so that the new wages can be implemented soon.
