  • CHANGE-MAKERS IN EDUCATION FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME

The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi intends to transform governance and education scenario in Delhi. There is growing demand among talented professionals today to work in leadership positions within the government. A well designed fellowship programme that provides meaningful opportunities to talented youth to work for State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT) to transform Delhi will not only meet the immediate needs of SCERT and Department of Education, but also provide a rare capacity building opportunity for the youth, and create a pipeline of change agents for education.

Keeping this vision in mind, the Directorate of Education and Delhi SCERT are launching the Delhi Government Change-makers in Education Fellowship, which would be housed in SCERT. Designed as a special programme over a minimum period of one year (extendable to another year), to identify and entrust a cohort of individuals whose expertise in education and passion for strengthening and improving the quality and standard of education, with the role of supporting the implementation of the following key programmes, the Fellowship is looking for inspired individuals, who are willing to apply themselves wholeheartedly, believe in the need for system strengthening and carry the belief that this is indeed possible.

The Delhi Government has taken various initiatives in the field of education such as Principal Leadership Development Programme, Mentor Teacher Programme, School Management committees, Special Education and Learning Assessment Programme and is looking for people who can bring innovative ideas, creativity and a fresh perspective to long-standing challenges that the government is addressing through these programmes.

The proposed Change-makers in Education Fellows programme aims to attract outstanding young men and women from all over the country, under the age of 35 years, to work in SCERT for two years.

Fifty-four fellows will be selected from a wide range of academic and professional disciplines, and will be emerging leaders in their field. The Government of NCT of Delhi stands to gain from energy and new ideas of freshly graduated youth, to be applied to policy and decision making processes, especially with a focus on education. The Fellows stand to gain valuable experience of “being in the system” and participate in implementation of various projects.

The Council of Ministers on 24.06.2016 gave its approval for appointment of 54 fellows @ Rs.40000/- per month for a period of 12 months (extendable to two years).
