  • Phenomenal response received for the three-year vocational course introduced by the Delhi Government

In a bid to revive the Indian education system and provide a much needed boost to education in India, Delhi Government’s Bachelor of Vocation (B. Voc) programme aimed at bringing respite to thousands of unemployed youth in Delhi has seen tremendous response.

Nine colleges have already started offering skill based curriculum that will enhance opportunities for employment across a wide spectrum of fields be it IT, real estate, publishing, academics, electronics and HVAC industry.

Commenting on the development Education Minister and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Manish Sisodia, Govt of Delhi said “The government has taken great care to design the course, which will enable students to learn the necessary skills in their chosen subjects and be competitive. The curricula have been prepared by academicians and industry experts on the guidelines of AICTE and UGC. The students will learn through innovative teaching methodologies since it is predominantly a practical-oriented programme.”

“We have already enrolled 750 students so far and I’m confident that this initiative will provide the much needed impetus in generating employment for thousands of unemployed youth that struggle for livelihood even after getting a graduation degree,” he added.

He also said, “The Delhi government has taken several steps to improve the education system in Delhi and I am confident that this course will open up new vistas of employment for students.”

Among the courses offered under the programme are software development, mobile communications, applied arts (only for female candidates), construction technology, Interior design (only for female candidates), power distribution management, printing and publishing, and refrigeration and air conditioning.

To encourage enrollment and promote skill development the eligibility for admission to the course is Class 12 in any stream or 10+2 from ITI in relevant disciplines. More significantly, there is no age-limit. The course will be conducted by nine government Institutes of Technology under the Department of Training and Technical Education.

The admission process is online and eligible students can fill the application forms online at the website Ipu.nic.in. The last date to apply online is June 30, 2016 till 4pm.
