Air Pollution levels continue to dip in Delhi
The consistent decline in air pollution measured through both PM 2.5 & PM 10 levels in Delhi, shows a highly encouraging trend according to the latest ambient air data collected by mobile teams of Delhi Pollution Control Committee on Tuesday(12th Jan) at 16 locations, through mobile dust samplers on using the Light Scattering Technique.
(Please find attached the data of 16 locations about Jan 12 recordings)

  • PM 2.5 air pollution levels on Tuesday at these 16 locations showed recordings of less than 100 (ug/m3) at nine locations, which is around 50% less than average recordings since the odd-even regulations were put in place for four wheeled vehicles since 1st January.
  • Seven locations showed measurements between 100-200.
  • Of these total 16 locations, lowest measurement was at 73 and the highest at 154, indicating a clear dip in even peak recordings of PM 2.5 pollution levels.
  • Out of a total of around 183 locations across the national capital, where mobile DPCC teams have so far collected ambient air data since 1st January, Tuesday data continues the trend of most encouraging results so far, which were observed on Saturday, further proving that reduction of vehicular traffic has resulted in lower air pollution in Delhi.
  • In 16 locations measured on Tuesday, even the PM 10 air pollution levels have also shown a marked decline.
  • PM 10 levels have been recorded between 190-474.
  • In 11 of the 16 locations, PM 10 levels were recorded at less than 300.
  • According to the scientists, weather conditions on Tuesday were favourable, though less than Monday, when a positive wind speed had added to the positive air quality.
  • Scientists have been consistently predicting that with the improvement in weather conditions, the results of odd/even formula for four wheeled vehicles has started showing positive results.
