DELHI GOVERNMENT ORDERS IMMEDIATE PAYMENT OF SALARIES OF DTC EMPLOYEES
Transport minister Mr Gopal Rai has taken a strict view of the reports about non-payment of salaries to the employees of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).

In consultation with the deputy chief minster Mr Manish Sisodia, who also holds the finance portfolio, the transport minister has directed disbursal of salaries immediately.

Following the minister’s directions, it has been decided that the contractual employees of the DTC will get their salaries on Wednesday (March 25) and all other employees a day later.
The Delhi government has decided to fix the responsibility for this lapse so that such a situation does not arise in future.

Mr Gopal Rai also reviewed the various issues of public transport with the officers of Transport Department and expressed concern over financial burden on the public service vehicles including taxi drivers while making it mandatory to install GPS system as pre-condition for grant of and renewal of fitness certificate.

Mr Rai said that it has been decided to give two months time extension to all such taxi drivers i.e. upto 31st May, 2015 to install the GPS. It was also decided that exemption to such public service vehicles including Taxis, which are 13 years old and are likely to complete 15 years time in next two years will also be given exemption from installation of GPS, on the similar lines as done in case of auto-rickshaws. It was also decided to widely publicize such companies which are providing GPS costing less than Rs.10,000/- to reduce the financial burden on taxi drivers.
